The Garden House

The Garden House is an 18 acre estate, set in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  We are developing a sustainable land use project with a focus on wildlife, education, therapeutic and community benefit.

We offer opportunities to people with varying physical and mental abilities and work with a number of organisations including, Surrey Choices’ The Growth Team, EmployAbility and the Guildford Community Group; The Halow Project, Jigsaw Plus, Men’s Sheds UK and AGE UK.

The project is continually evolving and is influenced by the connections that we make with the many marvellous people who bring their skills and interests, and kindly share their enthusiasm.  For example, green woodwork sessions are a recent addition to our activities, run by the Surrey Group of The Association of Pole Lathe Turners and Green Woodworkers, and The Garden Workshop is now a thriving group of creative people.

We have created new woodland, new ponds, planted a diverse orchard, planted new hedgerow, created a wildlife friendly productive garden and have tried to make these elements accessible, sustainable, educational and enjoyable!

The Garden House incorporates a privately managed equestrian facility, which aligns with the wider aims of the project.

The Vision for The Garden House was developed by Andrew and Caroline Hunter, the proprietors and sponsors.
